BMW 635 GR2 FIA HTP 1981


Brand new BMW 635 CSI GR2, period recreation of 1981 Eggenberger 635 CSI GR2 racing car.

In 1981 BMW MOTORSPORT support the team Eggenberger to win the European Touring Car Championship (ETCC) with a 635 CSI GR2, which was drove by German Helmut Kelleners and Italy’s Umberto Grano, and in some races also by the famous Venezuelan Alberto "Johnny" Cecotto.

This period Eggenberger car won 5 of 8 rounds and also won the drivers title of the ETCC.

This brand new GR2 CSI is finished in a lovely BMW MOTORSPORT livery evoking the BMW MOTORSPORT liveries of the 70’s. 

It was built regardless of costs with all the best parts and assembled in absolutely Museum Spec: Shell, panels, and paint are absolutely perfect to be in a museum / living room or winning races in any touring car championship worldwide.

This 635 is the result of seven years project to be able to find and build all the special and unique parts used by Eggenberger at the period. We think this might be the only true recreation of the GR2 ETCC wining car back in 1981.

This 1981 GR2 is a FULL SPEC with all the extensions and BMW motorsports special parts from Homologation 1703. To be period correct, a lot of parts where recreated to be 100% FIA legal according to FIA ANNEX K.

We are confident that this specific 635 CSI GR2 with its strongest M30 engine ever built and 1050Kg (ready to race) is capable to fight directly against Ford Capri RS3100 and BMW E9 3.5 CSL’s, because it has a better weight distribution, is wider, has bigger wheelbase and lower height which reflects in a much lower center of gravity.  We strongly believe that this unique “MIX” of this spectacular CSI is able to eliminate the 5% lack of weight/power Ratio compared to its direct competitors (Ford Capri RS3100 and BMW E9 3.5 CSL’s)

Gearbox: Brand new GETRAG 262 5 SPEED synchronized Box with short ratio gears designed for the engine power band for a perfect match.
