Lister racing cars were the product of an engineering genius, who over a very short time produced sports racing cars that were the envy of some of the world’s racing car manufacturers.

The Lister Motor Company was founded by Brian Lister in 1954 and the first Lister Knobbly debuted in 1958. Lister Jaguars dominated the sportscar class of British and European racing and were driven in the early years by drivers including Sir Stirling Moss, Archie Scott-Brown and Masten Gregory and Briggs Cunningham in the US.

In 2014 the Lister Car Company commissioned George Lister Engineering, to build a production run of ten continuation Lister Knobbly’s, to celebrate Lister’s 60th anniversary. All ten cars were constructed to original design, using original Lister jigs and installed with a new Crosthwaite and Gardiner wide angled Jaguar engine.

This car, BHL 153C was ordered by Adrian Breeze of Profile Panels in 2015. Adrian was commissioned by George Lister Engineering to build all of the aluminium bodies for the continuation cars. BHL 153 was completed in 2019, issued with HTP Papers and sold to its current owner in 2020. During 2020 BHL 153 participated the three test days at Goodwood and Silverstone.

During the winter of 2020/2021, BHL 153 was stripped back to a bare chassis and meticulously prepared by ADP Classic Racing, for the 2021 race season and specifically the Stirling Moss Trophy. The chassis and engine were completely rebuilt by ADP Classic Racing, the gearbox was rebuilt by Jaguar gearbox specialist Paul Castaldini and both differentials by transmission guru’s Racing Transmissions. BHL 153 was continually developed throughout the 2021 race season and proved to be a reliable and ultra-competitive car, securing the 2021 Stirling Moss Trophy for Chris Ward and Rob Smith, achieving numerous pole positions, fastest laps and race wins.

During 2022 BHL 153 secured IVA status and was road registered as a Lister Knobbly. Issued with a V5 and a period registration, this was subsequently updated to 6 BHL, a period Lister mark.

BHL 153 has been built and maintained to the highest standards, has a proven race winning history, securing the 2021 Stirling Moss Trophy and is eligible for prestigious motor racing series, including Peter Auto and Motor Racing Legends. The car is also eligible to compete in road rally derived events, or purely as an engaging and emotive road car.

BHL 153 has current HTP Papers and engine capacity certificate, including MSA seals and is sold complete with tonneau cover, leather seat backs, road silencer and limited spares, including wheels and Spa differential.
