Austin A40 MK1 Race Car 1961
Description:
All new parts or NOS items,(particularly bright work). The car has been rebuilt to a very high standard with no expense spared, all invoices and receipts plus photographic record.
One of the last MK1's produced, V5 in my name + British Motor Museum production trace certificate which confirms car's identity.
Finished in earlier A40 colour of Ocean Blue with black roof.
Genuine reason for sale. Time for someone else to enjoy her. Easy car to race with predictable handling. Ideal for both Novice or Veteran Racer, alike. Used last year with limited outings, track days,at major circuits including Mallory Park, Cadwell Park, Castle Combe & Blyton plus a couple of Shelsley Walsh events in hands of Jake Wootton to gain track experience. Jake has now been offered a Spridget drive for 2024 so car needs to be sold.

Powertrain
1293cc full race A+ block (Aldon Rolling Road report shows 120bhp @ 6450 rpm), 649 cam. 12G940, 11 stud, Cooper 'S' cylinder head, Weber 45 DCOE carb, Aldon Flame Thrower electronic ignition. Correct A40 competition Maniflow exhaust manifold + bespoke system which complies with noise limits at all circuits. SC/CR Spridget Gearbox & 4.5 ratio Salisbury type LSD both rebuilt by Hardy Engineering. Baffled Sump.
Brakes/Suspension
Spridget Discs & Calipers. Cooper 'S' master cylinder, Aeroquip lines, Hawk pads. Uprated lever shocks both front and rear (Peter May), HRDC specification, shortened front coil springs & 3 leaf lowered rears (Moto Build), Competition half shafts (Peter May), new spridget bottom wishbones, Polybushed Rear 'A' frame (Rae Davis), MG 'B' front anti-roll bar. Currently sitting on Replica Minilite 5 1/2" wheels.
Body Shell
Aluminium foam filled fuel tank, electric fuel pump. Both fuel and brake lines inside car. New, correct wiring loom (Autosparks).
Sparco FIA specification seat, TRS FIA 4 point mounting seat belts (expiry 2025), plumbed in SPA 2 ¼ litre fire extinguisher system. Race Tech rev counter, oil pressure and water temp guages. MX5 aluminium radiator. Lightweight alternator, gear reduced starter motor + lightweight lithium battery (all Powerlite). Later type negative camber trunnions (Peter May).
FIA 6 point roll cage, correctly installed on tower mountings. 4mm Perspex side and rear windows (ACW Plastics). Aluminium catch tank. Fibreglass bonnet, doors & bootlid. Steel front wings. Correct pattern front floor sections (Paul Clayton) and inner/outer sill sections and rear wing repair parts as per BMC pattern (A40 Farina Club) . I am awaiting imminent supply of new laminated front screen.
No rust or rot whatsoever.
Additional Info
The car is eligible depending on technical rules for many Historic races, notably the CSCC series and I have priced it at what I consider to be a fair figure.
There are a number of spares with the car which I would be prepared to part with should it reach the figure required.
