Description:

This is a 1967 Tecno Formula 3 car. It was bought new and raced by the CEO of Paul Ricard racing circuit François Chevalier. He bought and raced the car till he sold it in 1969. Unfortunately his racing career in the F3 didn’t go well he had reliability issues and tyre issues due to running the car himself and subsequently only finished a hand full of races in the car. I have some records of these races I have found. I also bought the book from Italy titled Tecno La Storia. In the back it details every chassis ever built by the company and the new owner. In there is this chassis number with Chevaliers name next to it. So any doubts of authenticity are taken care of. 

After Chevalier sold the car it was bought by a Moroccan racing driver called Robert Lassus. He campaigned the car in 70’ and 71’ at Moroccan run events. The pictures I have of the car racing in period are of Robert in Morocco. That is all the history that has been found so far. The car was obviously stripped for parts for another machine or broken for spares. Then the chassis laid up under cover in the Moroccan sun for a long time. 

I spoke to the gentleman that runs the Tecno F3 register and he confirmed that this chassis number was missing from the records and finding it was a wonderful addition to the register. So the car has now been confirmed and is on the register and can be built back into its former glory with no doubts about eligibility. The hot climate and the fact it was covered up has been kind to the little car. 

The chassis is in very good condition. All the wheels turn freely as dose the steering. Obviously there are parts it has been unkind to like the shock absorbers and the wheels.

This is a really good base to start from with some interesting history. I understand there is a lot missing but also these cars don’t come up very often as projects.
