Description:

With 2024 being the turn of the 1960's saloons, this is a great time to purchase a car that has raced twice previously in the hugely popular St Mary's Trophy at the Goodwood Revival.

This 1965 RHD R8 Gordini was converted to the 1300cc five speed specification for use in a number of rallies in both the UK and Europe.  Whilst the car moved back and forth between the UK and France, it is registered in the UK as MVW 680C. In readiness for circuit racing, an FIA Historic Technical Passport was issued on 11 November 2007, and it was MOT'd up until 2011 when it was first invited to race at Goodwood.

In addition to the race-car itself, there is a second complete engine and many, many other components.  Sadly, the car was damaged at the 2013 Revival and went into storage, so it does need some repair work..  hence the price.

In summary,  the car and spares package comprises 

• 2+ ENGINES - In the car, there is a full race engine with Weber Twin Carbs prepared by experts Classic and Modern Engine Services (CMES), and overhaluled by them in January 2023.  The fuel tank was removed and completely washed out in March 2023 before restarting the car.  There is also a second COMPLETE R8 Gordini engine, plus a spare block.
• 2 GEARBOXES - there is a race gearbox in the car, plus a rally-style gearbox.
• CAR BODY -all 4 doors, bonnet, and boot lid were replaced with donor parts so we could use plastic windows all round and reduce the weight.  I still have the original 4 doors, bonnet, boot lid, and rear glass screen.
• SUSPENSION - Adjustable springs; rear and front shock absorbers with bump and rebound.
• 9 WHEELS - four Gottis (2 with damage), three 13 x 4.5 bi-metal DeltaMics (for front & spare), and two 13 x 5.0 bi-metal Avantis (for rear)
• PARTS include - 4 CIBIE headlanmps, race seat, roll cage, aeroquipe break hoses, competition spec Engine sump and exhaust manifold, "STACK" rev counter, NEW Odyssey Extreme race battery, side-bumpers, anti-roll bar, under-cover etc, etc.
• DOCUMENTS & PHOTOS - I have alot of photos of the car as it is now.  I also have a file of documents that came with the car, plus photos at the Goodwood Revival 2011 and 2013.   The car was driven both years by French celebrity pro-driver Nicolas Minassian and owner Rae Davis, and we won Best Presented Team in 2011.
