For sale a very unique and interesting car - Formula 27 Blade – registered in 1985, but fully rebuilt 2021 / 2022 using mainly new high quality parts.

Due to a change of circumstances I am selling my successful race / track / road car which over the last two years has been fully rebuilt from a base chassis with over £11,500 of new parts being fitted within the last 300 miles. The engine has covered under 2000 miles since new and was professionally stripped, inspected and rebuilt for the 2023 season.

 

My son had planned to race the car again in sprints and hill climbs this year and therefore I invested heavily in having the engine fully rebuilt by the factory trained technicians at Performance Motorcycles and having a paddle shift gear change fitted. The car is almost ready to race but I would advise that a test day is needed to set everything up properly.

 

The car was MOT’d up until Oct 2022. It has a V5 in my name and a current Motorsport UK log book.

 

N.B. The car is registered as being manufactured by Dutton – this is explained below.

 

I bought the car as a pile of parts in 2020 with the view to rebuilding it as a post Covid project with my son. Starting with a bare chassis which we took back to bare metal before respraying it. The car was completed and MOT’d in October 2021. Once finished my son decided that he wanted to race it so over the next 6 months the car was upgraded to become a competitive sprint and hill climb car which finished the 2022 Scottish Sprint Championship as runner up in class (modified cars B4). Unfortunately, my son has moved away with his job and does not have the time to use the car this year

 

The car’s MOT expired in October 2022. I did not renew it as I had removed the lights from the car and as we were racing it had not been used on the road since it was re built in 2021.

The car could easily be put back on the road as it only needs the lights (which are included) put back on before it could be MOT’d again

 

What I know of the cars history.

-       Originally built by Formula 27 Cars in early 2000 the car was originally fitted with a 918cc Fireblade engine which produced circa 128 bhp. This has now been replaced with a 2008 Honda Fireblade 1000RR – 999.84cc circa 180 hp

-       For reasons unknown the car is registered as being manufactured by Dutton and is shown as being registered in 1985 – we can only assume that the then owner simply took the identity of a Dutton and put it on his new Formula 27. The car has been registered in this way for the last 24 years – it is technically incorrect, but I am sure that there are not many people around who a) could recognise a Formula 27 and b) know that it is unlikely that Dutton manufactured it. For racing purposes, the car is correctly registered with Motorsport UK as a Formula 27 Blade and it has a current MSUK logbook.

 

The car starts easily and the engine sounds and performs as one which has covered less than 2000 miles should. More pictures and a video of the car running are available on reques

·      Flatshifter Max – Paddle shift system - new – fitted but not used

·      Dyno Jet Power Commander 5 PCV Quickshifter - new fitted but not used

·      Dyno Jet Power Commander 5 QEM Quickshifter expansion model - new - fitted but not used

I am in no hurry to sell the car and I am not interested in any swaps or  exchanges.

I have 3 sets of slicks (2 sets are mounted) that could be made available if required although I would prefer to keep them.
