This is not your typical historic Clubman’s race car. It was very successful with numerous race wins and setting numerous lap records in 1970 and 1971. It has a big history file with lots of correspondence, results, set-up info, period photos right from first build, period magazine articles (including a December 1969 Autosport feature where it was the front page cover car with full page photo) etc.

During the 1971 season the car achieved 12 race wins, 6 seconds and 1 third place.

It is an Ellova Mk2, raced in period by Sid Marler. It was built in 1968 around lovely Cooper T76 components from an F3 car bought directly from Cooper cars. Girling calipers. Lightweight alloy body (apart from later GRP nose). From the ‘69 season it was raced with a Cosworth MAE then in 1972 converted to XFlow.

In later life the car had different nose, side pods and rear wing added for circuit and hill climb use. It has been in storage for a long time and hasn’t been used for many many years!

The second photo shows it as it was as a rolling chassis when in long term storage. It was then put on chassis stands and stripped ready for restoration back to original. However other projects have meant there hasn’t been time to progress with it and as it’s unlikely to be started this year have decided to sell as it is for someone to restore to the spec they want. The other photos have just been taken and show it as it is now with everything boxed up. (There are some other spares in big box not shown)

The included engine is a 681F crossflow of unknown spec and was already disassembled when acquired with the car, has a deep winged sump at the moment but also has a Holbay dry sump pump/cover. Head is full race A spec with big valves and double valve springs. Comes with intake manifold and Webber carbs. Lotus rear diff. Gearbox spec unknown as hasn’t been opened, according to the documents it used both close ratio Ford and Quaife gears at various times.

Comes with 2 sets of wheels, magnesium with slicks and alloy with wets.
