BTCC Super Touring Nissan Primera ex-Matt Neal - SOLD
This is now SOLD. Search for similar items.
Description:
This particular Nissan Primera Super Tourer driven by Matt Neal was one of the quickest cars of the BTCC Super Touring decade and certainly one of the more historically significant.
Originally painted white as part of the 1998 factory BTCC Team, it was later driven in the 1998 Australian Bathurst 1000 by Steven Richards and Matt Neal. They led the race at the start and finished in second place, less than two seconds behind after almost seven hours of racing.
The following year the Primera was repainted in red and raced in the 1999 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) by Team Dynamics, piloted by Matt Neal. That season Matt Neal made his historic debut win at Donington Park, which was the first overall BTCC win by a privateer in the Super Touring era.
Matt Neal raced the car at the last event of the 2000 BTCC. The Primera was then sold and briefly had UK and New Zealand owners, neither of which did any track time in the car.
It was shipped to Indonesia in 2008 where it was raced at Sentul Circuit in the Indonesian Supercar Series from 2009 to 2011, then put into storage. Consequentially the chassis has relatively low racing mileage and is in excellent original condition.
The engine head has since been rebuilt by Dave Hill of International Engine Services (IES), the company that redesigned and built the Nissan BTCC winning engine. The car is currently in good running order and has been restored back to it’s historic 1999 livery.
