Description:

Brabham BT40, chassis-number 30, 1973

New to Olney "Bill" Mairs (Malibu, CA) and raced at the 1973 SCCA Runoffs. First race: Road Atlanta, 3 Nov 1973. Retained for 1974, when Mairs finished fifth in Southern Pacific Division, representing CSCC. He then sold to the car to his two mechanics, Victor Tostado and Mark Munroe, and Munroe raced it in 1975 and 1976. Total of 12 recorded races in period. In September 1979 the Brabham was sold to Richard Christ, and then to John Whitton. It was next seen when owned by Mike Fazzi in 2002 and was sold by him to Peter Brennan (Australia) in 2004. The car remained in the UK and was raced by Brennan with the HSCC in 2019. Sold to Martin Friedl (Austria) in 2020, who is successfully racing the Brabham at current Aurora Trophy and the HSCC F2 events (2021, 2022)

In the last 12 months the current owner has invested in new: 
Aluminium Radiators, Clutch, Double Adjustable Dampers, Springs, Front Brake Discs, Gear Linkage, Starter Motor, Fire Extinguisher and Seat Belts.

The Gearbox was rebuilt in January ’22 by JP Raceshop.
The Engine was rebuilt in July ‘22 by Craig Beck Engines and will be overhauled by Craig Beck right now to give a new zero-miles-engine to the new owner!

The car comes with:
3 Sets of Wheels (1 set of quite new slicks, 1 set of old slicks for practice, 1 set of only 2 times used wet tires all from 2022)
12 Spare (usable) Gear Ratios
Period Dampers and Springs
3 Radiators
Front Brake Disc

In the current ownership and during the season 2022 the car has been maintained and improved over 2000 racing and testing miles, which includes replacing wheel bearings and rod ends.

Very easy to handle, especially in wet conditions (3rd place in a wet race at Donington this year). Weight: 465kg.
The Brabham BT40 will comfortably accept drivers up to 1.95m tall!

European FIA HTP valid until 2028
Australian FIA HTP valid until 2028

HSCC F2 Championship:
Class B Vern Schuppan Trophy: Cars built with engines conforming to an original Formula Atlantic or Formula B specification of no more than 1600CC manufactured and raced before 31st December 1975.

Class B –The Ray Mallock Trophy: Formula Atlantic cars which as a model competed between 01/01/01972 – 31/12/1979 (non ground effects)
