This is now SOLD. Search for similar items.

Description:

A genuine Sprint dispatched from the Ford factory on the 27th of December 1964, imported into the UK in 1990. The car features the proper 289 V8 which has been uprated and fitted with a period Paxton supercharger, just in case a tuned 289 is not enough! (This supercharger was an option on the Shelby Mustangs of the '60s and recognised by Ford). With 5 speed gearbox and fully adjustable upgraded suspension the car is a completely usable period missile. Having spent the first half of its life in California and then garaged carefully in the UK, the shell is solid and corrosion free. The modifications were made in the late ‘90s to create a fast road car, the spec. including:

Engine: 289 cu ins V8, period Paxton Supercharger, 5-bolt block, forged TRW pistons, Boss rods, 312-350 main caps and steels straps, larger stainless-steel valves, flowed 302 heads, roller rockers, solid lifter cam, baffled sump, Holley 4-barrel double pumper carb, competition fuel pump, alternator, 3" stainless steel twin exhaust. Allegedly 350 bhp.

Chassis and drive-train: Rebuilt 5-speed T5 manual gearbox with Quaife internals, new clutch, and rebuilt Detroit locker dif. Lowered suspension, rose jointed links and Panhard rod, new adjustable tie bars, set-up by QuinnTech Racing. New Australian Falcon 1972/3 front disc brakes, uprights and new adjustable telescopic shockers. New brakes pads, rear linings and rear cylinders. 7x15 Super-light wheels on 225/50/15 tyres.

Original body with no welding, recently professionally protected with full Dinitrol treatment. Evocative Alan Mann racing colours.

Interior: Period adjustable bucket seats with Willans full harnesses, original radio rebuilt to F.M., Race-tech extra gauges including rev counter, oil temp and pressure, supercharger boost, fuel pressure, 1960s clock from a MIG fighter, and USB port. Vinyl rear seats and floor carpeting all in good order.

Overall the car is in good order and can be used as a daily driver – if you want to smile all the way to the supermarket. A wonderful long-distance cruiser and an exciting point-to-point bolide, in a car which can’t help making a statement.
