Description:
Starting with a brand new VLN shell, part assembled and painted, bought directly from BMW Motorsport department in 2013. This shell was built up by Team AC Schnitzer for BMW in 2007, to replace any seriously damaged car in the race program at the time, and remained in storage until I purchased it. This was a brand new shell, not rebuilt or converted from a road car. I am led to believe only around a dozen complete cars were built, and this is chassis 014. The shell was already fitted with full roll cage, carbon bodywork, four on board AP air jacks, front to rear hard line brake pipes, ABS unit and fire extinguisher system. This is a properly modified, seam welded, competition shell.
I have slightly modified the car to take a passenger seat, but this can be reversed, and I have the long range Kevlar fuel tank cover, to put back in place of the passenger seat, if needed.
Incredible track day car, or convert to a fully fledged race car. The engine and box are mounted approximately 100mm further back to aid in weight distribution, as per the factory race cars. Lots of rare parts from BMW Motorsport, some took ages to arrive.
S54 engine is a special, very expensive build, completely rebuilt from a good running E46 M3, with low compression forged pistons, uprated rods and bolts. Gas flowed cylinder head with stronger hold down studs. New valves, springs, followers, etc. Dry sumped, with largest Pace BG pump. Lightweight TTE flywheel with Tilton HD twin plate 7.25" clutch. Quaife QBE69G straight cut box with thicker input shaft. Flappy paddle Geartronics pneumatic shift. Vanos deleted, twin switchable Bosch 044 pumps, 750cc matched injectors, Radium Billet aluminium fuel rail. ESS Gen 3 supercharger kit, using Vortech V3 centrifugal pump. Ramair cone filter and air to air intercooler. VAC Motorsport billet oil take off block, with remote oil filter and separate Mocal stat.
Full genuine original carbon panels, including diffuser. Wheelarch meshes. Inbuilt AP air jack system. Nitron 3 way bespoke suspension. Adjustable blade anti roll bars, tubular correct BMW Z4 Motorsport versions, beautifully made by Don Foster! AP 6 pot and 4 pot callipers with pure carbon rotors, can be converted to iron rotors, if needed. Tilton 600 floor mounted pedal box. Rays 10 and 11" TE37 SL 18" wheels with Pirelli slicks. Motec PDM, ECU, Dash and switch pad. Custom made Mil spec looms throughout. Quick release Sparco steering wheel. Plastics 4 Performance poly windows and element heated front screen. Coolers for engine, gearbox and differential. Electro hydraulic PAS, pump in rear. Cobra Imola Pro seats and OMP 6 point belts (not in date for racing). Rainlight, correct BMW Z4 VLN Motorsport LED converted 3rd brake light! Large capacity Radtec radiator with twin cooling fans. Stainless exhaust system without cats. Motorsport door mirrors. Plumbing in Aeroquip, Earls, Goodridge and Fragola. Huge receipt and paperwork file.
Dynoed at 456BHP at the wheels at RDT at Harworth, running on regular pump petrol. The engine could produce far more if you wanted to go the turbo route!
Incredibly rare car with many special features, really must be seen to appreciate the lengths BMW went to. This is not an altered road car, and only done a few miles on track. It is mainly flat bottomed with factory closing panels.
Open to sensible offers, might consider selling without engine and gearbox. Brian James trailer available too.
