VW Golf GTI 16V
The car was originally built and raced in Belgium and Holland in their VW Cup Championship where it achieved numerous race wins and fastest laps. It then came over to the UK where the previous owner ran it very successfully in VAG Trophy, Pre 93 Touring Cars, Project 8 Saloons and CSCC Tin Tops taking over 30 Class Wins. I have had the car since 2015 and competed in the Classic VW Cup where we have had multiple Class Wins and an outright Race Win.
The car is eligible for a number of race series and championships, Classic VW Cup, CSCC, 750MC CTCRC Pre93. This is a professionally built car, not just a road car conversion. Since I have owned the car it has undergone a no expense spared rebuild and has been fully maintained regardless of cost. If you built it from scratch then it would set you back around £20k
Brief spec as follows:-
Bodyshell: The bodyshell has been chemically dipped and seam welded. Welded in cage. Fiberglass tailgate and bonnet and front wings. Polycarbonate windows.
Interior: Corbeau Revolution race seat MSA compliant. In date harness (end 2019). In date 4 litre fire extinguisher system with 8mm tubing. Red top battery. Racetec gauges and a custom made wiring loom. Lonacre rear mirror. Lightened dash board.
Engine: 2.0l 16v engine (9a bubble block with KR head) fully blue printed, new pistons 4 meetings old. ARP rod and head bolts. New head, re-ground valves and seals 6 meetings old. Motorsport baffled and gated sump. Twin 45 Weber carburettors. The engine produces 140bhp@wheels by Hub Dyno and approx 180bhp@flywheel.
Gearbox: Refreshed 4 meetings ago. 020 close ratio 5 speed gearbox fitted with a Quaife ATB diff and 3.9 final drive. Sachs racing solid paddle clutch and lightweight flywheel.
Suspension: Fully adjustable Gaz gold dampers and springs all serviced by Gas a season ago. Rose jointed top mounts. Adjustable rose jointed Neuspeed rollbars. Ball joint spacers to correct roll centres. Seam welded front subframe and wishbones. New wheel bearings and drive shafts fitted this year. Professionally set up and corner weighted.
Brakes: AP Pro Race 5000 front calipers with AP305mm discs, mounting bells and brackets, the whole kit was specially made by Techcraft Motorsport to fit under 15 inch wheels (cost £2000) Bias pedal box with remote cylinders and in car adjuster. All lines are Aeroquip.
Other bits: ATL FIA 60 litre fuel cell. Red top fuel pump. All fuel lines and fittings are Aeroquip and run inside the car. Lots of one-off custom-made parts including airbox. Quaife quick rack. New side exit exhaust with 2x silencers. 1 set of 15 x 7 Pro Race 3 alloy wheels with Nangkang AR1 tyres 3 meetings old. 1 set of 15 x 7 Pro Race 3 alloy wheels with Dunlop Race Wet Tyres 1 meeting old. 1 set Compormotive wheels. Car is left hand drive and weighs 870kg.
This is a very clean, competitive, ready to race car that has had lots of time and money spent on it’s build and maintenance. The car comes with some spares including Cylinder head, 2x new drive shafts, steering rack, original tailgate, bonnet and glass.
