BMW Z4 M GT
Released into the world at the 2006 Geneva Auto salon just before GT3 became the Behemoth it is today, the BMW Z4 M Coupe GT was a blueprint for customer racing in the future.
The original cost of two hundred and fifty thousand euros netted you a ready to race factory-built GT racer with factory support in the form of spares and technical support. Fitted with one of BMW’s best engines to date the 3.2-liter S54 inline 6 produces 400HP at a sonorous 8200RPM and propels the homologated 1200kg Z4 GT to frantic speeds.
The original run of 12 cars were primarily campaigned at the Nürburgring Nordschleife during the infamous VLN endurance races culminating in the legendary Nürburgring 24 hour. The races of the VLN and its highlight the 24 hours are the most grueling and fantastical endurance races in which one can compete, the race known for its ability to chew up and spit out both its amateur and professional competitors with equal prejudice.
This particular Z4 M GT won its class and scored a 10thplace overall in the 2009 24 hours of the Nürburgring with Team Dörr Motorsport. A remarkable feat which bears witness to the strength speed and reliability of this factory-built racer.
The original inline 6 has been reworked by BMW Motorsport and bored out to 3.5 liters now producing a healthy 460HP at 7600rpm. An updated fully sequential Tractive transmission with the option for both paddle shift and sequential lever update another part of the car to modern expectation and the 7 hours total runtime on engine and powertrain mean that no major rebuilds are necessary before hitting the track to be impressed by the optimized and well sorted chassis. A unique part of GT history that is ready to show the present how it’s done!
Recently the car benefitted from a full 4 post setup performed by TRE (Team Rosberg Engineering). The car was 2 full days on their F1 pulser resulting in a perfect suspension setup and maximum mechanical grip.
This great machine makes for a great contender in many race classes like
VLN, RCN, STT and the 24hr Creventic Series.
It would also fit very well in the increasingly popular Historic races for recent GT cars.
