1960 Turner Mk 1 BMC Race Car 

For sale at fraction of build cost. Purpose built as a race car from original Turner chassis believed ex-Tony Broom in 2010. Road legal (not on current Yoko tyres) with V5, chassis plate, MOT and Tax exempt but has been MOT'd in past. Original registration number. Well known to the Turner Sportscar Club and past winner of Chairmans Cup for most outstanding track performance by any Turner.

Car is on the button and ready to race, can be viewed in Gloucestershire after 7/09/18 or seen at CSCC Donington Park meeting 15/09/18. Last raced Brands Hatch GP circuit 18/08/18 combined Gp1 and Gp2 Swinging Sixties finished 14th overall out of 46 starters, second in Class.

A Turner is lighter and better handling than a Spridget and certainly more exclusive. Good spares availability and support via the Turner Sportscar club who have the body moulds.

Raced exclusively by myself in CSCC swinging Sixties and MGCC events. In 34 races scored 3 pole positions 3 outright race wins 8 class wins 11 second in class 4 third in class 11 fastest lap in class. 3 times Class winner and fastest lap in class in MGCC 4 Hour relay race. Outstanding reliability record with DNF rate less than 10% and usually for trivial reasons eg: broken throttle cable.

Car built for lightness and accessibility/ease of maintenance. Weighs circa 565kg ready to race

Body - race weight glassfibre over alloy/steel tub all new in 2010 prepped and painted by Cotswold Classic Car Restorations. Full length undertray/Flat floor.

Engine - New engine built for 2017 season by Mamba Motorsport. Chemically cleaned Midget block bored 1330cc. Omega forged pistons, MED Midget crank, MED damper, Midget rods lightened and balanced, MED steel flywheel and clutch, Centre main strap, Alloy back plate, SH engineering alloy filter head and roller rockers. Longman full race head. Swiftune SW23 Camshaft. Built for reliability not outright power - made 130bhp at flywheel.

13 row oil cooler. Electric cooling fan.

4 branch long centre main race exhaust - Circa 98 db at noise test. 

Carburettor/Fuel system - 45 DCOE on Maniflow inlet manifold - Ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt by specialist June 2017. Red top pump, filter king pressure regulator. 30 litre baffled and foam filled alloy tank. 

Gearbox - SCCR ribbed case Spridget box built new by Mamba Motorsport 2017 with uprated layshaft and mainshaft.Reverse lock, extra breather. Roller bearing clutch release.

Prop-shaft - custom made and balanced by Reco-prop

Diff - Tranx LSD rebuilt 2017 by Quaife choice of ratios 3.9 or 4.2. Peter may Competition Half shafts.

Safety -Tillet FIA seat (out of date but I believe can be inspected and redated) TRS 5 point belts in-date. Plumbed in extinguisher serviced July 2018. Professionally built roll cage by Cotsweld and Corinium Motorsport with side impact bars and made with attention to chassis stiffening.

Front Suspension - Spridget type with adjustable camber top trunnions and lower wishbone bushes. Reinforced wishbones. Taper roller hub bearings. LEDA adjustable Telescopics. Rose jointed antirollbar with choice of diameter/adjustable.

Rear Suspension - Original factory option 5 link with coil over LEDA adjustable platform telescopics. Sealed rear hub bearings.

Set up with advice from LEDA and corner weighted by Mamba Motorsport.

Front Brakes - Wilwood 4-pot calipers Hawk pads

Rear brakes - discs with handbrake. Mintex competition pads.

Electrics - race alternator and pre-engaged starter. Aldon distributor/ignitor. Otto racing display and early warning system (volts, water temp,oil pressure, revs) dash adjustable rev-limiter. Lap timer.

Wheels and tyres - Rocket Racing period alloys Yokohama 175-60/13 medium compound new June 2018 ie: two races old.

Some spares come with the car eg: Sebring Sprite type rear brakes, Lights, miscellaneous engine parts. 

Quaife ribbed case Spridget Dog-box unused since recently refreshed (new first gear) by Mamba Motorsport also available by negotiation
