Description:
William I'Anson Ltd are honoured to offer for sale the fantastic and very original Ex - Works, Two Time Le Mans Veteran 1968 Alpine A220.

A Works entry for Le Mans in both 1968 and 1969, with Works drivers including Renault Formula 1 ace Jean-Pierre Jabouille and rally legends Jean Pierre Nicolas and Jean-Luc Thérier.
Converted in July 1969 to short tail configuration in July 1969 and remained in that configuration for its last there events, the first of which was the Chamrousse Hillclimb on the 27th of July 1969 where it was driven by Jean Vinatier to first place on the Sports racing category.
A frame was produced to allow it to be prepared with its high speed long tail bodywork, as it can still be to this day.
Registered for the road on 17th August 1969, to enable it to be used on the Critérium des Cevennes later that month. It is the only A220 that was road registered by Alpine.
Surely one of the ultimate entries to Le Mans Classic and so much more.
Only ever owned by the Alpine Works, former Alpine chassis designer Jean-Pierre Buirette, who completed a meticulous twenty year restoration in 2004 and the current owner.
This is a truly unique opportunity to acquire a significant piece of French racing and Le Mans history and your chance to become the fourth owner and the first person to race the car since Alpine in period.
