Description:

1963 LDS Historic single seater. Currently raced with a 1600cc Ford kent motor in the South African historic single seaters formula.

Brief History: Errol Hammond raced the Doug Serrurier LDS Ford (first 1100cc then 1300cc) , later sold to George van Straaten who upgraded the engine to 1500cc and raced in the 1963 Rand Grand Prix in South Africa. The car was badly damaged in 1964 and van Straaten built the Brracuda Volvo sports car from some of the components.

This car (pictured) was built from the remains of the LDS (suspension, steering and gearbox) with a new chassis built by Trevor Blokdyk off his Midland Cooper jig.
