 This was the first Gulf Oil 917k replica to race back in 2005 at the Spa Six Hour meeting (one hour race), and has raced continuously since then, with its last outings at Spa in September and Silverstone in November 2017. 

  Fully approved and extensively used by Gulf Oil UK for promotional work in over many years.   It has had pictures and articles in many magazines over the years, and is surely one of the most photogenic cars of all. It can earn an income from invitation and shows and is always a draw, and already has paying invitations for various Gulf events this year. 

 A Redtek (Nic Fulljames)  Porsche 964 3.6ltr twin spark,12 plug, dry sumped, balanced and flowed engine with PMO carburation, mated to a Porsche 915 5 speed LSD gearbox with lightweight starter.  A new MSD ecu and harness was fitted last summer. It has straight through and silenced exhaust systems, flexible oil lines throughout to and from the alloy oil cooler and oil tank .   

Accurate Kurz, narrow arch, bodywork, 15"dia, 10.5" front and 15" rear wide wheels, alloy uprights, fully adjustable rod ended wishbones, front and rear adjustable anti roll bars, adjustable shock absorbers and Eibach springs,  full spaceframe chassis, period type roll cage and 917 throttle, brake and clutch pedals, front air ducts feed front brake cooling, windscreen  and cockpit ventilation, opening side windows and sliding rear window,  black felt covered dashboard and lightweight wooden gearnob.  I even have the small passenger seat, but do not use it to save weight. Basically everything is done to follow the original cars design and characteristics.

On the button and ready to race, it is fully MSA compliant , with battery cut off system, head, spot, tail and brake lighting including rain and period JWA correct night lights, correct style twin blade wipers, etc, etc.  It has just been fitted with a brand new 5 point Luke harness,  fire extiguisher system (cockpit and engine bay), and battery, fresh for the 2018 season and beyond.

 With a similar looking original 917K fetching a world record price of $14 million and 80 thousand dollars very recently, these rare and iconic cars are virtually untouchable for most.

 It is not a show queen but a serious race car, and has 13 years of race patina.  It does have like the originals, an adjustable seat, also a quick release period Prototipo 917 steering wheel to make life easier , as well as many other original and period parts. The inner cills have many signatures of period drivers and mechanics including Derek Bell, Willi Kauhsen, Alan Hearn, Jackie Oliver, Brian Redman, Jurgen Barth, etc, etc.
