Description:
1954 Kurtis 500S
This is an opportunity to buy a fully sorted and ready to go, successful and highly competitive, drum brake 50s sports car.
Developed over the last few years, the car has a successful history in Europe in the MRL Woodcote Trophy. With FIA HTPs to 2025 it is eligible for that series as well as many other 50s sports car events including VSCC races, Goodwood and even Monaco. It represents an opportunity for the new owner to run right at the front in a car that is ready to race and can be maintained by the owner. It would be very very competitive at Monterey in the pre 55 race group
Road legal, it is a stonking but comfortable road/rally car! The car is complete with extensive spares. It is a relatively cheap way to get to the very front of a very expensive grid of 50s sports racing cars - 331 cu (5445cc) Chrysler Hemi with 390bhp at the wheels. Massive torque from 2500rpm to 6500rpm. Engine built by Gary Mallicoat. Less than 5 hours since refresh - Jaguar XK Gearbox, rebuilt with Billy Bellinger/Quaiffe internals (zero hours since refresh) - Halibrand quick change type rear axle with numerous ratios - University computer modelled handing development has tamed the beast! - Extensive spares - 2 sets of wheels, 3 exhausts systems (open, loud, and quiet), gearbox, full set of running spares etc etc. will need a big van to take all the bits and bobs away
Winner at Goodwood, Podium Woodcote Trophy at Silverstone and regular class winner. Could easily win Woodcote Trophy outright in the right hands. Silverstone 2:32, Goodwood (with oil) 1:32, Spa 3:05
Cash sale preferred but may consider part-ex with cash either way for interesting project needing work. Car is in the UK.
It needs in date belts and extinguisher but is otherwise totally ready to go.
