I have for sale my 1995 Classic Subaru Impreza STI Type RA, the car was imported by myself in 2006 as a standard road car purely to turn into a Track / Hillclimb car. As standard the RA was the fastest Subaru at the time and was purely produced so they could use the car in rallying, it came with an aluminium bonnet and had all of the heavy items removed such as air conditioning carpets, sound insulation ETC. The car has been professionally prepared by a very experienced Technician.

 

Inside

Interior fitments have largely been removed carpets sound deadening rear seating, it has a full FIA approved safety devices roll cage and two cobra bucket seats, the standard fuel tank has been removed and a new ATL fuel cell has been installed in the boot with an uprated Walbro fuel pump and braided steel fuel lines.    

 

Handling

The car has a full set of adjustable coil overs, front and rear strut braces, Whiteline antiroll bars front and rear with poly bushes. The car has been professionally set up on corner weights.

It has 3 sets of wheels, 2 standard Subaru sets one set with Avon slicks for Hillclimb and one with a set of wet tyres. The third set are 17” wheels and tyres used for track days.

The brakes are standard but have modified pads for sprints/hill climbs.

 

Engine

The engine has been completely removed and rebuilt, it has an Exedy clutch with lightened and balanced flywheel, crank and con rods, race engine mounts, 550cc injectors, custom induction kit, Greddy front mount intercooler, modified standard turbo (Turbo Dynamics), Stainless downpipe and tubular manifold, full 3” exhaust system. The car runs on the standard ECU which has an ESL board fitted and has been mapped by Racedynamix to 354 BHP. It also comes with a lead and laptop so you can view data and make changes if required.

 

A lightweight Gel race battery with external kill switch, and a full set of Samco hoses.

 

The car has an FIA approved log book and has been mainly used for hill climbs and sprints.

I have been very successful in the car over the years, used mostly at our local hill climb Gurston Down where it ran in the Modified production saloon car class, my pb time was 34.30 and at the time was only a second off the class record. I regularly won the class or ran very competitively against cars with a lot more hp.

 

In 2008 I competed in the SBD south west sprint championship where I competed in a range of sprints and hill climbs in the south.  I won my class and came 2nd in the overall championship.  At Abingdon sprint I was only a couple of tenths off the class record.

 

There are a number of spares and tools which will be included, Jerry Cans and fuel lifting  siphon/ pump, rotary discs and pads. I also have a tilt bed trailer that could be included in the sale at the right price.

 

I am selling due to family commitments and unfortunately just not using it, as you can see the car is very competitive in sprints and hill climbs or makes great fun on track days, it is a very quick car and can do the 64ft marker in under 2 seconds (1.7 is my best) in standard trim the car would do 0-60 in 4.5 seconds so would be well under that now and has been clocked at 140mph but not flat out.
