BMW E36 2.8 Track car - SOLD

This is now SOLD. Search for similar items.

Description:

Due to relocation (going back to France), I am selling my E36 track car. The project started 2 years ago with a friend, when after a period of tracking kit cars we wanted to move on a bit. We found this very clean 323i base car, with a bit of mileage (slightly above 200k miles) but completely rust free. We didn’t touch the aesthetics as this is not where we wanted to spend money, plus we really the blue paint/grey BBS wheels combination. From there:

Drivetrain:
The car received a M52B28 2.8L (328i) engine (with about 100k on the clock) with new head gasket and polished and ported head, a lightweight competition flywheel and a new M3 3.2 clutch (all of this about 500 miles ago), and a remapped ECU. It was also fitted with a 328i sport LSD, a stainless steel exhaust and a decat pipe, a high flow air filter and a M3 alloy radiator. There is obviously plenty of room for upgrade, but first, we were already very happy with the current output, and secondly we wanted to go one upgrade at a time to gauge the incremental benefit. The car is sold with a spare M50 intake and throttle body, which is a standard upgrade to the M52 (much wider pipes). The car is also sold with a complete short shifter kit that we didn’t get the time to install.

Chassis:
As you’d expect from a track car, the focus was on suspensions and brakes and the car was fitted with coilovers suspension with adjustable top mounts. The brake disks and pads have just been upgraded (mostly pagid), one brake caliper had a bad bleeding nipple and we replaced the whole caliper with a new one for the sale. The fluid was just replaced with DOT 4 high temp. We didn’t get around to install the braided hoses but those come with the car as well. The tires are in very good condition at the front, brand new at the back. The setup is obviously track focused, you can adjust easily with the adjustable suspensions but it is quite effective already even on demanding tracks such as Donnington park where it was last tested. We haven’t fitted the x-brace yet but one will come with the car and should improve rigidity a bit.

Interior:
Stripped from all comfort except for the air con and eletric windows, fitted with a GP racing bucket seat and harness. We only installed one seat for the track but the car comes with a second seat and harness for you to install if you want to bring a friend. Steering wheel has been upgraded to an alcantara Momo. We were planning to fit a roll cage at some point but didn’t get the time to, that would be worth considering, there are plenty of good options out there depending on your plans for the car.

The car doesn’t have an MOT at the moment as we didn’t use the car on the road (it was MOT’d up until June 2016), but the only point that wouldn’t pass is the decat at the moment, so if you want to use the car on the road that would be the only thing you’d need. The car has been checked and sorted by my BMW specialist 2 weeks ago with a £1k+ invoice to make sure it was ready to use and won’t need anything but gas for the whole season. This is the best performance/cost car you can find for the track, I cannot stress how good this thing drives enough.

Finally, the car comes with plenty of spare parts, too long to list, but that includes extra headlight units, ECU, fuel pump, alternator, engine sensors, etc.
