Description:
This engine was built at KB Automotive Racing to the exact specification that we used in our MG ZRs that competed in the Britcar championship for many years and won the championship in 2007. This specification of engine completed the Britcar 24 hour race 4 years running and could complete an entire season of the endurance championship between rebuilds.
When we were competing in Britcar (under the Mickel Racing banner) this was basically our spare engine. The cylinder head was used for one event and the bottom end has never been run at all, so this is basically a brand new engine.
The bottom end has a fully balanced, lightweight steel crankshaft, Arrow conrods and Omega pistons. It was built up with Mahle competition main and big end shells, and has a fully baffled sump.
The cylinder head is a VVC unit, fully ported and running Piper 1606 inlet cam and VHPD exhaust cam. It also has Piper double valve springs, solid cam follwers and vernier pulleys.
This engine can make around 220 bhp and rev to over 8000 rpm (we used to use 8200 rpm for endurance racing, but could go to 8500) with multi throttle bodies (I also have a brand new set for sale) and was originally run with an Emerald K3 ECU, so a map can be provided with the engine for this ECU.
This engine has been sat in a corner of the workshop untouched for a couple of years but just needs a rear main oil seal and is ready to bolt straight into a car and go. Since it has been sitting around, I think it's time to move it on and let someone get some use from it. At current prices it would cost about £7K to build an engine to this spec, so it's going to be a bargain for someone!
