Sierra Cosworth RS500 (recreation)

1987 race car built from a solid, rot-free 3 door shell, no sunroof

Most of the right bits to make a nice RS500 replica

Cosworth engine and gearbox with bespoke rolling road mapping to the ECU with approx 285BHP at back axle

Large, new intercooler, small turbo (less lag)

Fuel swirl pot and 2 fuel pumps, (no fuel starvation on left hand corners), standard tank

Gripper LSD fitted new 2015

All the right suspension front and rear

Power steering removed, standard non-assisted rack installed. The oil boiled and they removed it in period

Full RS500 body, wing and spoiler kit

AP Racing calipers with DS3000 racing pads (fitted 2015)

In-date seat belts

Spare seat plus belts if required or track day use

In-date plumbed in fire extinguisher

Usual electrical cut off switch

Spare wheels

Sparco seat suitable for UK competition use but no longer in date for FIA events

This is a full race car but is great fun as a trackday car as well.  There is a spare seat and belts if you wish to take passengers.  It is not road registered but I do have the original number plate ID so it could be put back on the road if required.  This car attracts a great deal of attention at circuits amongst petrol heads. 

The car is quite a handful to drive, it is powerful and light with good brakes but it is still a 1980s saloon car and does not drive like a modern FWD hot hatch. It has been raced occasionally over the last five years in CSCC Future Classics, DDMC Northern Saloons and 750 Club Road Sports, it would probably be eligible for other series as well.

The car was last raced in June 2015 and finished a 45 minute race with no problem, it has been stored on axle stands since.

Reason for sale is that I no longer live in UK and I do not have time to race the car any more.  It can be viewed in storage in Yorkshire and if you want to buy it can be delivered to you anywhere in UK.
