History
- The Renault 5 Turbo 2 is presented at the Paris Salon in 1982D 6. For economic reasons, the interior signed former Bertone gives way to that of the Renault 5 Alpine Turbo. The doors and the roof sheet aluminum are replaced by steel. Production of Turbo 2 is 3167 copies, a total of 4857 R5 Turbo in total plus some R5 Turbo of unauthorized competition.
- After his victory in the Tour de Corse 1982 Renault Sport wants to benefit athletes customer experience at the highest level with the factory cars, as was the case with the Cevennes type. The Renault 5 Turbo Tour de Corse meets the new regulatory FISA Group B.
- In line with its policy of "customer-competition" as to the Cevennes, Renault Sport sells the car key in hand (twenty colored yellow Renault cars, the front and white back) or sells an adapter kit for series of cars. The roll bar from 10 to 16 points for a total weight of 930 kg.
- The customer Tour de Corse is also to be modified to move towards the definition Maxi Group B according to the official car. The body is stiffened and composed of a sheet steel monocoque. The engine remains the 1397 block cm3 supercharged by a Garrett T3 turbocharger, boosting power from 240 to 285 horsepower depending on the equipment kit. (factories versions in Corsica in 1984 had a power of 320 hp.)
- The gearbox receives a 5-speed gearing rally. The brakes are identical to those of the Cevennes and a manual brake control valve is installed in the passenger compartment. Rims "Minilite" receive TRX Michelin tires.
