This is now SOLD. Search for similar items.

Description:

Engine built by Ken Clarke (Ken Clarke Motorsport). It was run-in on the dyno at Northampton Motorsport, and then power runs completed. It made just under 200 BHP at the rear wheels  (225BHP at the flywheel).

It has twin Weber 48 DCOE carbs. Cooling is via a Craig Davies electric water pump and Mercedes radiator core built to fit the car by Nigel Rackett. Nigel also built a swirl pot which is currently fitted. The oil cooling is via a Laminova Heat Exchanger. The larger unit currently installed is 182mm long. Oil filter is a remote mounted unit and utilises an oversize filter. Ignition is by an MSD unit with an 8500 RPM pill. The gearbox is a synchromesh close ratio non-straight cut unit. It has cuctom designed JE pistons and reworked standard rods and crankshaft. The camshaft is a Special Tuning full race item.

The LSD is a Tran-X plate type unit. Final drive is 4.1.

Suspension is by Nitron monotube shock absorbers. They are extremely high quality units.

All the plumbing is either Aeroquip or stainless steel hard line. All the hose ends and fittings are anodised aluminium or stainless steel in the case of the brake lines.

The front brakes are 4 pot aluminium calipers with Capri discs.

The rear brakes are Sierra calipers and your disc conversion on the axle.

The car sits on genuine Minilite 6J x 13 wheels.

In short, the car was built with the best of everything. It was built to CSCC/CTCRC Pre-83 Touring Car regulations - they have been amended since the car was last raced, so the buyer will need to check for legality!

It has not seen the the race track (or indeed run!) for 7 years, so there is some re-commissioning to complete before it goes out again.

The car handles extremely nicely, and stops very well.

The front offside grille is removed pending completion of a cold air induction system for the airbox.

There are spares with the car. Loads and loads of bodywork bits and bobs and glass. A set of original wheels (NB They do not fit over the four pot front calipers - but if you wanted to go back to Group 1 spec, they will suit the smaller calipers).

There is a complete back axle (drum braked). There is an 1850 engine, and a disassembled Sprint engine. There is also a Sprint front subframe.

Car is available for viewing in Northamptonshire (about 5 miles from Silverstone).
