EMKA Aston Martin MC01 83C for sale. The EMKA Aston Martin was a Group C car powered by a 5.4L Tickford V8 designed by GT40 creator Len Bailey for Steve O'Rourke to compete in the World Endurnce Championship with the main focus being the Le Mans 24 hour race. Nick Faure joined Tiff Needel and Steve O'Rourke for the 1983 Le Mans race with sponsorship from Hawaiian Tropic, Dow Corning, P&O being the most notable. The combination of suntan lovers and the legendary Hawaiian Tropic girls creating their usual brand of histeria around the car. The car finished 17th overall, winning the Motor Trophy for the first british car home. In 1985 the newly Dow Corning liveried EMKA returned like a new car, with a re-disign of the underbody and sporting a new rear bodywork, incorporating a revised engine air intake and new rear suspension. Michael Cane said "the difference in the car was like night and and day and all due to the efforts of Richard Owen, the Shrike designer." The car was transformed for Le Mans 1985 and, with careful planning of the pit stop, it led for several laps when the leaders went to refuel, the first time an Aston Martin engined car had led since 1959! The car we have here was built from spare parts in 1989 at the EMKA workshops as the original Dow Corning (1985) car was built on the the 1983 chassis. Subsequently this car has only competed in only a few Group C Racing races including the 2004 Le Mans support race. The car has has FIA HTP papers and is available to view at our High Wycombe premises. SOLD - SOLD - SOLD - SOLD THROUGH RACECARSDIRECT.COM
