To whom it may concern. I am in possession of this classic engine that would fit in many sports car racers of the 60s/70s most noticeably CANAM Mclarens.
It is an Ex CANAM Chevrolet Big block engine. CID 509 4 Bolt Aluminium with119cc combustion chambers, Winters Foundry casting.
Engine number 399204 4.5” bore block built without the iron sleeves used in most of the aluminum big blocks. Specifically developed for Can Am racing.Brodix “Race Right” heads. Imported from UK where it won the Brighton Festival of speed twice in 1988 and 1989 with Clive Bracey in his VEBRA.
