Austin Healey 100/6 Ex Works Racecar

Description:

AUSTIN HEALEY 100/6 EX WORKS RACE CAR

 1958 EX TED WORSWICK

 PJB 828 HISTORY

PJB started out life as the works demonstration and press car at The MG Car Company, Abingdon-on-Thames.  Featuring in the car magazine “THE MOTOR”, as well as the movie ‘SCHOOL FOR SCOUNDRALS’.

In 1963 the car was transformed by The Abingdon BMC Competition Department to a works race car, built specifically for circuit racing.  It was campaigned very successfully at the time by driver Ted Worswick.  In PJB’s first race outing at Oulton Park the car finished in first place.  In following races at Goodwood, Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Aintree the car enjoyed top ten finishes.  PJB, as one of the fastest Healey’s of the time, was raced extensively in the UK until the late 1960’s.

“One of the fastest was an older works 100-six, PJB 828, driven by Ted Worswick” (Brands Hatch 1965 in “Healey, the Handsome Brute”, page 92).

In more recent years, the car was campaigned at the Tour de Espana (Spain), Copa Classico de Tenerife (Spain), Arlberg Classic (Austria), numerous times at Gran Premio Nuvolari (Italy), as well as being used for various continental and UK tours.
