1969 Lancia Fulvia 1300 S Road rally car

Tony Jardine’s Lancia Fulvia 1300S is a fully road rally prepared 1979 Lancia Fulvia which was bought from a Scottish owner who had not rallied the car. Since purchased, a good deal of work has been commissioned over a period of seven years by Lancia specialists, such as Ian Chamberlain, Allitalia in Wales, but still it has never been used in competition, only selected road trips due to the time constraints of event work.

A great driving car with all the inherent handling characteristics from the layout of the Fulvia, that includes the all round visibility from the driving position, which when combined gave it such a winning pedigree on big rallies like the Monte Carlo. Even since those heady days of Sandro Munari winning in the works car, a road rally Lancia 1300 S has won the Monte Carlo Classiche twice in the last four years.

This car has had a close ratio gearbox fitted, lighter leaf springs, and the fuel system overhauled with new pumps, Lancia experts have either modified and or serviced the car. Full recent check/tune by top technician Michael Anderson (April 2026) plus another check and steering revision by Classic Performance Engineering at Silverstone in May 2026. The rorty ‘canted over’ V4 engine was originally uprated in the build and is as strong as ever with great oil pressure.

The overhauled transmission is smooth but as with Lancia boxes, they cannot be rushed, but if you are touring it easily reaches motorway cruise speeds without feeling as though you’re overstressing the engine. The recently refreshed steering is direct and responsive without being heavy, there’s no noticeable play through its action and on the road, the car is easy to place with great brakes.

 

The Fulvia is on ‘as new’ Cromodora wheels and new Yokohama tyres with just 100 miles of normal road use on them, plus spare rims with snow tyres. There are a total of ten wheels and tyres with some spares such as gearbox internals, new alternator, dizzy etc.

Most importantly there are two fat build history files filled with pictures of the original build from a road car into a rally car and stuffed with receipts from the all the work over time. It is equipped with a sump guard, tripmeter, OMP harnesses and full roll cage.

The car is ready to go with the spares wheels and tyres. The Fulvia would be equally happy touring as much as it would enjoy performing on a road rally.
