About 15 years ago, the Lotus 7 Club worked with Strongman Lifts to prototype a platform and ramp system that would sit on top of a standard scissor lift.  This would allow cars with a tapered chassis, like the Seven, to be lifted - using their wheels rather than the chassis, whose shape doesn’t lend itself to conventional scissor lifts.

Unfortunately at the time (and probably still!), the price of steel made it uneconomical to be put into production.  However, I bought the prototype and I’ve used it very happily ever since.  On this arrangement I’ve built or rebuilt 3 Caterhams, a Westfield X1, and done ground-up restorations on a couple of historic single seaters.

The platforms themselves are around 3m long.  They each bolt directly to the top of the scissor lift.  Each platform has a separate access ramp around 1.2m long, and the lowered/floor height of the platforms is around 17cm.  Underneath each end of each ramp is a bracket that swivels down, and this takes the weight of the platform when it’s at its lowest level.  Also included are 4 wheel-chocks, that fit into slots at the end of each platform.

The platforms are heavy, but liftable by two people.

My guess is that they lower the total lifting capacity of the lift given they’re lifting the car from their lowest travel, but I’ve never had problems with any of the small/light cars I’ve worked on.

I’m only selling now as I’m doing less tinkering nowadays, and I also have a 4-poster lift.

Please note my Strongman Tools scissor lift itself is not included, just the platforms, access ramps and wheel chocks
