BMW M235IR
Description:
KEY FACTS
This M235i Racing is a BMW Motorsport-supplied race car; one of approximately 150 produced by the BMW factory.
Jens Marquardt appointed Sebastian Golz as the M235i Racing Project Manager. The cars were built at the Leipzig production plant and completed by BMW Motorsport, designed to be an affordable and accessible vehicle for national racing series and club events.
From 2014, privateer BMW teams and drivers could purchase the cars to compete within the BMW Sports Trophy Customer Racing programme.
In 2014, the first 14 cars were supplied to teams competing in the VLN Endurance Championship and the Nürburgring 24 Hours on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. From 2015 onwards, they were also used internationally, including in the USA by BMW Sports Trophy drivers.
This car was supplied to Ring-Attack GmbH on 17 March 2014.
It is therefore one of the first 14 cars launched to the press by BMW in 2014 at the Nürburgring and has an extensive competition history at the legendary circuit.
It has been maintained over the last four years by BMW race preparation specialist Climax Motorsport.
Under the bonnet sits a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six, producing around 333 bhp and sending power to the rear wheels via a ZF 8HP eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shift, BMW Motorsport software, a modified torque converter, and a BMW Motorsport mechanical limited-slip differential.
This example has been maintained by Climax Motorsport and Toroverde Race Team, and has been used for track and test days. It is noted to have competed in the VLN racing series in 2014 and 2015. The odometer shows approximately 30,750 km.
The turbocharger, gearbox, and engine main bearings have been replaced, and the engine and gearbox software updated.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
The BMW Motorsport M235i Racing was developed specifically for the VLN Nürburgring endurance race series — a championship designed to facilitate relatively low-cost professional racing.
This example is noted to have benefitted from all specified BMW Motorsport upgrades, including suspension, engine and gearbox software updates, rear wing enhancements, and driver cooling upgrades.
It also features:
24-hour front bumper
AP Racing 6-pot front brakes
KW V3 dampers
H&R springs
H&R adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars
Aluminium front tower strut brace
85-litre fuel cell
Air jacks
The car also features a BMW Motorsport FIA-approved roll cage, BMW M Performance steering wheel with display and shift lights, carbon fibre dashboard trim and centre console, carbon fibre floor panels and door cards with cloth pull straps, with the rear seats and sound insulation removed.
One of the most prominent features is the BMW Motorsport carbon fibre wide arches.
Finished in white with BMW M-colour livery, the car also carries Climax Motorsport branding and various race decals.
It is fitted with a BMW Motorsport-supplied OMP driver’s bucket seat with OE black six-point Schroth racing harnesses, along with a BMW Motorsport safety net.
The car comes with its DMSB Wagenpass and one ignition key.
Also supplied are the original BMW Motorsport manuals, upgrade documentation, running information, and access to BMW Motorsport support via any UK BMW main dealer for parts and software updates.
CONDITION & RECENT SERVICE
The car was last used in 2025 for track days only. It was then serviced in September 2025 by Toroverde and has not been used since. Everything is set up, and the car is ready for the next owner.

PREVIOUS SERVICE HISTORY
Several services were carried out in 2024 by Climax Motorsport in preparation for races at Snetterton, Donington Park, and Silverstone. Work included replacement of the AP front discs, bells and pads, rear brake pads, various rear suspension tie bar bolts, rear shock absorber top mounts, a full four-wheel alignment, repair of the heated rear screen, and installation of a BMW Performance steering wheel with LED shift lights.
In 2023, the car was maintained and upgraded by Climax Motorsport. This included replacement of the fire extinguisher, installation of new OE Schroth harnesses, a dashboard video camera, and carbon fibre BMW Motorsport wheel arch liners.
In August 2022, Sytner BMW replaced the main bearing shells, gearbox, differential oil, alternator belt, and BMW Motorsport door safety net.
The car is supplied with its original German Wagenpass, listing the first owner as Ring-Attack GmbH and subsequently Sorg Rennsport, a well-known BMW racing team at the Nürburgring.
The Wagenpass documents all races the car competed in during 2014 and 2015.
