FIA Group 2 Ford Capri RS2600 project
Description:
This car was intended to be an FIA App. K. Group 2 replica of the Ford Capri RS2600 used by Klaus Fritzinger and Gernot Zapf on the 1973 Rally Monte Carlo, the first round of the new World Rally Championship for manufacturers.
The as-new rolling bodyshell was imported from California and the FIA App.K Rollcage (not yet installed) was sourced from Custom Cages. A 2.8 Cologne engine and gearbox also comes with the car and a Group 2 Capri ZF gearbox is available at extra cost.
Much more important to the project are ten years of research and hundreds of photos of Group 2 Capri bodyshell and suspension modifications to build either an historic road or race car to FIA period Group 2 specifications to acquire an FIA Historic Technical Passport.
The car is currently located in the south of Northern Ireland at MS Motorsport who fabricates rally cars to the highest specification and could be contracted to complete the fabrication.
