Merlyn Mk20a 1970 Historic Formula Ford 1600 – HSCC Eligible

Offered for sale is a Merlyn Mk20a Formula Ford 1600, prepared to current HSCC Historic Formula Ford regulations and presented in near-immaculate condition.

I have owned the car since 2011. During my ownership it has been lightly used due to running other cars and has only been raced competitively a handful of times, while being maintained regardless of use.

History & Provenance

• Supplied in 1970 as a JRRDS School car
• Owned by Tony Winship from 1993-2011
• Raced extensively in HSCC 1993-2000
• Stored 2000-2011
• Owned since 2011
• Previously restored by John Brown and Merlyn CRD to current historic specification
• Correctly prepared Mk20a with documented history

Rebuild & Preparation

• Comprehensive rebuild by Grant Engineering in late 2023
• All components requiring replacement were thoroughly renewed at that time
• Since the rebuild, the car has completed only a couple of single-seater test days at Anglesey

Engine

• Neil Bold engine, assembled from a T20 block, custom finished in RAL5008 (not the usual blue)
• Original receipts included
• Correct historic specification and recently refreshed
