Description:
The Caterham CT01 represents an important milestone in modern Formula 1 history, as the first car ever raced under the Caterham F1 Team name in the 2012 FIA Formula 1 World Championship.
This example is chassis #2, raced throughout the 2012 season by Vitaly Petrov. The CT01 was designed by Mark Smith and introduced the distinctive 2012 FIA-mandated “platypus nose,” making it instantly recognisable on the grid.
Driven alongside team-mate Heikki Kovalainen, Petrov competed in 20 Grands Prix with this chassis, contributing to Caterham’s 10th place in the Constructors’ Championship — a crucial result for the young team. His strongest finish came at the Brazilian Grand Prix, where he finished 11th, the team’s best result of the season.
The CT01 belongs to the final generation of naturally aspirated Formula 1 cars, originally powered by the Renault RS27 2.4-litre V8. This particular car is offered today as a rolling chassis, without engine or gearbox, making it ideal for collectors, display, or high-end motorsport exhibitions.
As an authentic, race-used Formula 1 chassis from the closing chapter of the V8 era, Caterham CT01 chassis #2 offers a rare opportunity to acquire a genuine piece of recent Formula 1 history, directly linked to a full World Championship campaign.
