Honda Acty – First Generation (1977–1988) Overview

The first-generation Honda Acty (TA/TB/TC/JB/VD/VH series) debuted in July 1977 as the successor to Honda’s T360/TN360/TN-V/TN7 light trucks. It introduced the new 550cc EH engine, derived from the Gold Wing’s flat-four, offering improved performance under the updated kei-car regulations.

Unlike competitors that used under-seat or rear-engine layouts, the Acty adopted a unique mid-engine (MR) layout, inherited from the TN360’s transaxle structure. This gave the Acty excellent balance and durability.
