This 1991 car is based on a Mazda MX5. it has been developed over the last 13 years into the car you see today with zero expense spared.
Curb weight is 940kg.
Currently running a low boost setting giving 305bhp.
Fully forged 1.6 ltr 4 cylinder engine build using only the best parts (mostly from America). The engine has had roughly 3000 miles of use. Not much track time. Some road events and shows in the summer months over the last 5-6 years.
Professionally dry stored. It is a perfect condition tub.
2 sets of wheels.
13x7 ET0 with Dunlop 525M ‘race’ tyres fitted for track use. (hardly used wheels in almost new condition)
15x7 ET0 3 piece split rim with Nangkang NS-2R tyres. Both wheels and tyres are brand new with maybe 50 road miles on them. £2500.00 cost with tyres.
6 speed gearbox. From a later MK2 Sport. Much stronger gearbox and better ratios.
2x differentials.
Torsen (mazda design) with 3.3 ratio (from America) for log gearing at high speed track such as Spa.
Kaaz 1.5 way plate diff with 3.6 ratio. This in my opinion is the best ratio. Both differentials are freshly built and easily interchangeable.
Welded in (rear only) roil cage.
Large sport brakes with Carbone Lorraine race pads (amazing stopping power).
All brake, Fuel and oil lines are fitted with Aero JIC.
BC Racing coilover suspension.
Front subframe is fully tubular. Weight saving. More geometry ability. Stronger than original. Better access to engine. And it looks cool!
Engine mounts are ‘Racing Beat’ design. Way better than original.
HEL braided lines.
AP race fluid.
Fully race bushed.
Carbon Kevlar bucket seats.

My father ‘John Chatham’ was very good friends with the late ‘David Brodie’. While developing this car I consulted Dave a number of times about which direction to go in. Although this is not a ‘BBR’ car I felt a certain connection to Dave’s cars which is why the number plate ‘E5 BBR’ is fitted to this car. There have been countless hours of development with this car. It truly is a master piece. Fun for a track toy, or a spirited drive on the open roads, or for a race car in something like the CSCC new millennials series. Personally I believe it will do all three better than most. It has been so ‘over engineered’ you can go hard on the track, lap after lap and it wont complain.
