Description:

For sale is this 1984 Formula Ford Van Diemen 1600 (Kent) Chassis No 827. This car has not been used since 1993 & has not been touched since. It requires a full restoration in order to be raced. It comes complete with it's original "Searle" prepared engine which has not been started since 1993, it has the desirable 711M block. The right hand rear lug on the engine has been welded at some time in it's life. The engine does turn over fine but has some surface rust in the No3 bore, it will require a full rebuild before it can be run again. The Hewland Mk9 gearbox has been removed to be rebuilt and sold separately but could be sold with the car at extra cost. The driveshafts & all the brackets etc to fit the gearbox are included but the cast aluminium engine adaptor housing is NOT included but it will be included if the gearbox is bought with the car........ I can also sell the car WITHOUT the engine which will bring the price of the car down to £1,999....... This car is totally original and still retains it's in car adjustable rear anti roll bar that many people remove. Also still has it's original oil cooler fitted (and an extra one). It's fitted with Spax dampers which still retain damping effect. The caliper mounting lugs are broken off the rear right upright so that upright can only be used on the right hand side. The steel calipers are all there, i removed them from the uprights as they were seized on the discs. it comes with 3 rear early type steel wheels, 2 front early type steel wheels & 1 Weller front wheel. The tyres all need replacing. It does NOT come with the old narrow travel wheels fitted to it. This would make an excellent project for someone to restore.
