Tommy Reid's Crosslé 25F
Description:
The Crosslé 25F of 1972-74 set a new benchmark for Formula Ford 1600, beginning with a new lap record on its debut at the Brands Hatch GP Circuit in October 1972. In 1974 Richard Morgan won the Wella for Men British FF1600 Championship and the Formula Ford Festival. For decades since, well-driven 25F have beaten much younger cars, and continue today in Classic/Historic Formula Ford in the UK, Europe and beyond.
The 25F was a personal favourite of Dr. John Crosslé MBE and with good reason. This car, chassis 25F-74-50, belongs to Irish racing legend Tommy Reid and is one of the last to be sold on his behalf from a notable collection accumulated over a career of racing. A close friend and loyal customer of Crosslé Car Company, TDR won countless races over many years at the wheel of this car.
In 2017 Tommy demonstrated 25F-74-50 at Dunboyne on the closed public road circuit where he holds the lap record since 1965 at 101.24mph. Always in excellent mechanical condition his 25F was prepared to show condition for the 2017 event and remains unused and carefully stored since.
Engine was built by Tommy using the best components available, tested on his own dynamometer, potent and ready for action.
25F-74-50 needs superficial fettling plus new harness, extinguisher and battery to continue a unique record of winning.
Spare bodywork and a few other spares are included. Every other part is available (mostly from stock and for same-day delivery) from the same factory where this car took shape almost 50 years ago.
The car can be viewed at Crosslé, close to Belfast City Airport, and transported worldwide at competitive rates.
