Austin Healey 100 Full Race Car
The Austin Healey 100 was introduced at the Earls Court Motor Show in 1952 to huge critical acclaim. Production ran from 1953 to 1956. Approximately 80% of all 100 production was exported to America. In period many were used as weekend race cars in countries all over the world, where they normally punched well above their weight in sports car races. They continue to do the same today, often embarrassing much more expensive machinery. They are eligible for some of the best historic racing in both UK & Europe.
SSU is an original 1955 right hand drive BN1. And although not used in anger for some years, she was well known in racing circles & a competitive race car. In current ownership since 2016 & used mainly as a fun fast road car, with occasional track day outings. She has previously competed in both UK & European race meetings, including Le Mans Classic (photos in the document file).

The specification includes:
· The engine is a full race specification Denis Welch Motorsport unit with steel crank & rods, high compression forged pistons, DWR race camshaft, alloy sump & alloy full race cylinder head. Fitted with a pre-engaged high torque starter motor.
· Carburation is from twin 2" H8 SU's, with an aluminium cold air box.
· The exhaust is a DWR full race specification system.
· The gearbox is a BN2 unit with straight cut, close ratio Sebring ratio gears & a competition overdrive.
· The differential is an original specification open unit as required for FIA .
· The wheels on the car are quite new looking MWS 5.5” 72 spoke. Fitted with older Dunlop race tyres, which will need replacing.
· The bodywork is a mixture of aluminium & steel & is in good overall condition.
· The single hoop roll bar has an additional removable passenger hoop.
· Fitted with Dunlop front disc brakes, BN2 rear drum brakes all fitted with race brake linings.
· High ratio steering box with safety column.
· Foam filled large capacity alloy fuel tank.
· The interior has a high back Kirkey race seat, Motolita steering wheel & Willans Harness (out of date)
· The spares package includes a second set of four wire wheels fitted with Avon road tyres, two differentials, a cylinder head & various gaskets etc.
Eligible for some of the very best events & race series in UK, including RAC Woodcote Trophy, Equipe Classic Racing, GT & Sports Car Cup & FISCAR. Plus Peter Auto in Europe.
Included is a folder of documents, including a current V5C in the owner’s name, invoices from expenditure under current ownership dating back to 2016, photos from Le Mans Classic & a rolling road graph dated 17/03/25 from our own rolling road showing strong engine performance. The latest FIA HTP in included, this lapsed on 31/12/22.
This is an opportunity to acquire a well-known, developed & competitive car. The asking price reflects that it does not have a current HTP & will require a mechanical preparation, plus new tyres before being used on a race circuit. It runs & drives well, but has not been used in anger for several years.
