Van Diemen Formula Forward single seaters

Seven cars in total, 3 complete, 4 needing some suspension.

These cars were built by Van Diemen around 1989-1991 with a spaceframe semi-monocoque chassis also used in Formula Vauxhall Junior. They started life at Palmersport then went to BARC who split them between Pembrey, Thruxton and Croft circuits.

All fitted with 2 litre Ford engines of varying specifications.

Some have the Scorpio 8v DOHC (Sierra) engine while others have the 16v motor from the Mk5 Escort RS2000 (rated at 150 bhp when new). All engines are dry sumped. Most running on DCOE 40 carbs.

Some were converted to run on LPG. All except two were converted back to run on standard unleaded petrol several years ago.

All fitted with Hewland LD200 4-speed gearboxes.

3 complete cars in full working order

2 cars as above – needing most of front suspension replacing.

2 complete ex-Pembrey cars still converted to run on gas – one needs rear upper wishbones (rusted).

Some additional bodywork includes 9 nosecones, 7 side panels (4 left and 3 right), 6 x 1 piece cockpit bodywork, 6 rear engine covers, 10 cockpit covers (to keep the rain out!), rear wing, front winglets.

Other spares include wishbones, 6 hub uprights, 4 dampers with coil-over springs, steering rack, one freshly rebuilt (top-end) engine, radiators, camshafts, cylinder head, cam cover, sump.

Some new tyres – mixture of Toyo Proxes R888 & Yokohama.

In summary, 7 chassis with 5 petrol engines plus 2 gas and 7 gearboxes.

Wheels & tyres for all cars plus some spare tyres.
