Description:

David Prophet raced this M10B in the Guards F5000 Championship and the Rothmans European F5000 Championship from 1970 through 1972. He scored multiple top 10 finishes, including 4th at Brands Hatch and Mallory Park. In 1971 Prophet raced the M10B in the Argentine Grand Prix for F1 and F5000 cars. He finished 1st in F5000, and 4th overall 

The McLaren then went through a series of known owners through the 1980’s. In 1989, Rick Hall (Hall & Fowler) drove this M10B to the HSCC Pre-1991 Single Seat Championship. 

In 1991, Bruce Leeson purchased #400-04. He later competed in the New Zealand Tasman Revival F5000 Series, 2008-2010. He also raced the McLaren in the 2010 Australian Grand Prix support race. Thereafter he and the McLaren came to the U.S. and won both the U.S. Formula 5000 Revival Series Championship and the SVRA Vintage Racing National Championship.

More recently, in 2023, Bruce raced #400-04 at the Rolex Monterey Reunion winning the Class A race and finishing third overall. In addition, they received the Rolex Award for Overall Excellence.

To cap the 2023 season, Bruce and the M10B were invited to McLaren’s 60th Anniversary feature at the Velocity Invitational. There they ran with some of the greatest McLaren racing cars in history, along with McLaren luminaries like Zak Brown, Lando Norris, Pato O’Ward, and many more. Today the M10B remains under the care of one of the Arrows McLaren race engineers in California.
