Ordered by the Échappement team in 1974 from Sonauto in Levallois-Perret, this Porsche 911 Carrera RS 3.0 is the 29th of 109 examples produced in ‘RS’ and ‘RSR’ versions. From the moment it left the factory, the RS dominated Group III, both on the circuit and in rallying. Between 1974 and 1976, the car took part in 60 races, including almost 40 group wins!

Unfortunately, its triumphant career was cut short at the La Ronde d'Anjou rally in November 1976, when it was destroyed in a serious accident. In preparation for the following season, a new production 911 shell (year 1977) was purchased directly from the Porsche factory in Zuffenhausen. All the original RS components were transplanted. In just 5 months, the car was ready to race again.

The 1977 Le Mans 24 Hours marked the return of the rebuilt Carrera RS to racing in Group III. Unfortunately, the crew had to retire after 18 hours of racing due to an engine failure (cylinder head gasket). After 61 races, the engine just couldn't take it. It was then completely rebuilt with an original ‘6-bolt’ 2.7 RS crankshaft and aluminium half-cases from the 1977 Carrera 3.0 L (aluminium crankcase n°6679077), which were more robust than the old magnesium ones.

Continuing its career until 1979, it accumulated a total of 92 races contested, including two participations in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and five in the Tour Auto.
All this racing history is fully documented, with over 200 archive documents from the period.

For the record, 1974 Porsche Carrera RS 3.0s hold the all-time record for race wins (+3000) in all categories from 1974 to 1979.

In 1989, the current owner - a former professional rally co-driver who won the 1976 Jeanne d'Arc Rally in this car alongside Bernard Beguin - acquired it from a Porsche specialist who had bought it a few years earlier. Between 2012 and 2015, it underwent a complete restoration under the supervision of its owner. The car was completely dismantled, the body was stripped bare, all the reinforcements specific to the Carrera RS were checked, and then repainted in its original ‘Racing White’ colour. Carrera RS-specific parts were reinstalled, including short rear suspension arms, new 917 brakes and callipers, as well as completely new hoses and fuel tank. The 1977 engine has been rebuilt and fitted with a new Bosch mechanical injection pump. The original gearbox, whose casings have also been changed to aluminium, has also been opened up and overhauled. The owner states that the magnesium gearbox halves are still available.

Inside, we find the 300 km/h speedometer and the 10,000 rpm rev counter specific to the model. The car is fitted with Sparco Evo seats and its original steering wheel!

Following its restoration, it was returned to its 1974 livery by the Échappement stable. Today, this Carrera RS 3.0 is in perfect mechanical condition, with archives and documents certifying that it has always retained its original chassis number: 9114609029.
