Etype semi lightweight race car

Description:
- This Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8 FHC is a race-prepared, FIA-compliant example of the iconic classic British sports coupe.
- In its first outing after being rebuilt, it was entered in the 60th Anniversary E-Type Challenge at the Silverstone Classic, in which it finished in second place out of 43 entrants. At this time, it was still fitted with a 317bhp matching-numbers straight-port steel-block engine.
- It is now powered by a dry-sump all-alloy 3.8-litre Crosthwaite and Gardiner wide-angle straight-six, which sends its power to the rear wheels via a rebuilt ‘EJ’ four-speed manual transmission and a 3.77 limited-slip differential.
- It has enjoyed success at the Silverstone Classic, the Donington Historic Festival, and Equipe Classic Racing meets at Oulton Park and Snetterton.
- The FIA Historic Technical Passport (HTP) is valid until 31 December 2029, and the Tillett seats are valid until 2026.
- Various clips of the car being driven on track can be found by searching ‘Danny Winstanley E-Type’.
- The odometer shows 75,058 miles, though this is not warranted.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
- This E-Type is finished in a handsome shade of white with contrasting red and blue racing stripes, ‘78’ numbering on the bonnet and doors, and the driver name ‘Danny Winstanley’ on the rear side windows.
- It rides on a set of 15-inch magnesium wheels with three-spoke knock-offs, wrapped in Dunlop Racing tyres.
- Equipment includes lightweight plastic windows, front and rear tow hooks, a three-spoke Sparco steering wheel, a roll cage, a Tillett bucket seat with a Lifeline harness, an OMP fire extinguishing system, a differential cooler, uprated drive shafts, an alloy radiator and header tank, an oil cooler, uprated anti-roll bars, a heated windscreen, and lightweight brake callipers.
- Accompanying the vehicle will be the FIA HTP and a collection of spare parts a set of wheels and tyres, and a softer front anti-roll bar.
CONDITION
- Please refer to the photo gallery to assess the exterior and interior condition.
- Specific notes from the seller include: a dent in the alloy bonnet was repaired following a racing incident at the Silverstone Classic.
- The most recent MOT test was on 15 March 2021 at an indicated 75,058 miles, which was a first-time pass with two advisories to monitor fitment of an incorrect but up-to-standard handbrake, as well as fitment of larger rear wheels and tyres, and a lack of passenger seat and dipped beam headlamps.
SERVICE HISTORY
- In November 2024, the engine was refreshed with new bearings, valve springs, crankshaft damper, clutch, oil, and filters.
- The engine oil and filters have reportedly been changed after every race meeting.
- In preparation for the 2024 season, the car was fitted with a new 100-litre foam-filled baffled alloy fuel tank, new fuel lines, a replacement prop shaft and clutch, re-valved Koni dampers, new front brake pads, and an MSD ignition.
- The fire extinguisher was also serviced, the suspension arms and nuts/bolts were zinc-plated, and the underside and engine bay were resprayed, including powder coating of the engine frames.
SUMMARY
