The Tiga SC79 represented the start of Tiga's golden reign over the British Sports 2000 Championship, it dominated the British championship in 1979, with TIGA winning all bar one of the twenty British championship rounds.
I bought this car chassis No 84, back in January 2023, as a car that had run well prior to being stood in a workshop for a number of years. A typically optimistic view that I would do some fettling and run it in the Sports 2000 Historic class that year. Unfortunately, it took me longer than anticipated to sort the car to my standards the result being virtually a complete strip and rebuild, including new lightweight bodywork, new revolution wheels, rebuilt brake calipers, new brake lines, refreshed gears for the Hewland, new clutch, new electrics, new harness, and extinguisher. So once ready for the 2024 season I was hopeful of some good results, however the opening round at Silverstone, resulted in a blown engine, and the rest of 2024 was spent getting a new engine built by Damico and fitted by Chris Snowdon. So with just one race left of the 2024 season I raced the car at the final Sports 2000 race for 2024 at Snetterton without a single problem and also got a a podium finish.
So why sell(?), well a change of plans, I have an opportunity to race elsewhere and have decided that I simply don’t have the time or money to run two race cars.
