Revealed for the first time at the Beijing Motor Show in 2020 the Elantra N TCR marked the expansion of Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing’s range of TCR cars.

Based on the road-going Elantra the new car maintains the strong links between the Hyundai racing cars fans will see on the track, and the cars available from the showroom. The addition of the new package also further builds the Customer Racing department’s growing reputation for producing fast, reliable cars for the increasingly competitive TCR category.

Design work on the Elantra N TCR started from a blank sheet of paper in the second half of 2019, allowing Hyundai Motorsport’s designers and engineers to capitalize on the expertise gained from three years’ work with the i30 N TCR and Veloster N TCR. The approach allowed them to carry across the many strengths of the other racing Hyundai, while also presenting the opportunity to improve on the existing designs where possible.

In line with the TCR regulations the Elantra N TCR is front-wheel drive and is powered by a two-litre turbocharged engine derived from a brand new base engine taken from Hyundai’s family of road-going models. The car will share the same six-speed, paddle-shift operated gearbox as the other Hyundai TCR designs, while the use of the Elantra model as a base provides an instantly recognizable silhouette on track.

2021 was the first year for our new Hyundai Elantra N TCR, and our customers achieved titles in multiple continents. Sebastian Loeb Racing claimed the TCR Europe crown at the final event of the season. The Elantra N TCR also helped seal success stateside for Bryan Herta Autosport in conjunction with our Veloster N TCR.

The Elantra N TCR continued its winning ways in 2022, with six titles for Hyundai Motorsport customers. A third drivers’ and second teams’ title in WTCR, a clean sweep of drivers’, teams’ and manufacturers’ honours in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, and a TCR Italy crown all reflect the highly competitive package offered to our customers.

2023 was no different, as the Elantra N TCR won ten titles, including the inaugural TCR World Tour for Drivers championship. A third consecutive class win at the Nürburgring 24 Hours and fourth clean sweep of drivers’, teams’ and manufacturers’ titles in IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge further demonstrated the pace and reliability of the Elantra N TCR. There was also title success in TCR Eastern Europe, Australia and China.
