Mini Cooper 1293 - Swinging Sixties outright race winning car.

Built to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the mini in 2009, this bare shell build entered the Super Mighty Mini championship and won it's first two races.  Many other race wins and podiums since.

After a few years dormant, it was recommissioned in 2019 and made eligible for the CSCC Swinging Sixties series.  It won outright at Donington - it's only race in the series. It's only had a Goodwood test day since. 

Well looked after.  Road legal to enable ongoing dry maintainence runs.  Belts and fire extinguisher in date.  Turn key ready to enter it's next race. Current photos were taken at Goodwood 31/8/24. 

I am retiring from racing after 25 years. I accept that I am biased, but I will say this.  This has been the most reliable, trouble free, peach of a race car. It's only had 1 DNF (electrical) ever. There are much more clever spec, high revving race cars available but these often come at the expense of longevity.  If you prefer a less highly strung yet torquey, light weight, well balanced classic, where constant rebuilds are not required, then this is the perfect car for you to go and have fun with your weekends racing. Eligible for CSCC and others including sprints, hill climbs and events requiring road legal spec.

Professional Pat Howe built 5 port 1293 A series engine with omega pistons, balanced bottom end, modified cylinder head and straight cut gearbox.  Standard cam, standard flywheel and single 1 1/2 carb. 

All steel with fiberglass bootlid and polycarb side and rear windows. 90Bhp/90ftlbs/630kg.
