Very early Lotus 51 Formula Ford. Chassis no 51/FF/22A with frame no AM-22. See listing under my name on LFFR.org

Car was originally a JRRDS car, badly damaged in early 1970's and used as a source of spares for several years. Purchased incomplete by previous owner late 1970's, along with a similarly damaged Lotus Type 31 F3 with the intention of making one good car from the two. Sadly previous owner passed away after only very limited strip-down work had been done and most of the 51 chassis consigned to scrap. I bought  both the cars from the estate.

Chassis of the 51 was so badly damaged that previous owner had scrapped it. (He'd intended to try rebuild his 'new' car on the 31 chassis). Simon Hadfield built a new chassis, and all resoration work using top quality components was undertaken by Jon Waggitt. Peter Denty supplied new bodywork. What is effectively a brand new gearbox built by Jono at Racing Transmissions, and the engine by Derek Buckton who has built many race-winning FF1600 engines. Fully restored period-correct wheels, brand new zero-mile tyres. Brand new hans-compliant LUKE harnesses, and fully compliant extinguisher system ( tested May 2024). Absolute top-quality compomemts used throughout - built to a standard, not a price.
