1977 Lola T332C Formula 5000
Description:
Chassis number HU62 was the last T332C built by Lola, having been specially commissioned by Len Gibbs Racing in preference to the complex and far less successful T400 which had been launched by the Huntingdon concern in 1975. It therefore represents the final iteration of arguably the most successful Formula 5000 car of all time, and also the last F5000 ever built by the factory.
Initially driven in the Shellsport G8 series by Keith Holland and Damien Magee, HU62 spent a period in UK sprints and libre races before competing in US vintage racing in the hands of Bobby Brown. Returning to the UK in 2000 the Lola was raced by Keith Baldwin, Neil Glover and Mark Dwyer, including appearances in New Zealand for the 2009/10 Tasman Revival series. The car is unused since purchased by its current owner in 2013.
During this period everything on the Lola has been refreshed or replaced. This includes a new zero miles motor running on Lucas mechanical injection and a rebuilt DG300 gearbox. All of the suspension components have been checked and renewed where necessary and the body has recently been resprayed in distinctive Burger King livery.
With Formula 5000 cars still producing big grids in the Tasman Series and experiencing a renaissance in the UK this represents a great opportunity to acquire a highly competitive example. Offered complete with 5 spare wheels and tyres, a spare nose and rear body section.
