Description:
Selling on behalf of the family of the late Jim McConville ... Cooper T75 Alfa Romeo F2, F2-2-65. Built as Cooper's perfected prototype in February 1965 and sold new (with its sister F2-3-65, now in a Japaneses collection) to Alf Francis, Stirling Moss' mechanic. BMC A-Series XSP powered, Jackie Stewart set a new lap record at Silverstone. Alf Francis fitted a twin cam 998cc Alfa Romeo-supplied engine (105 / Guiletta 1300cc destroked) and a Colotti-Francis five-speed gearbox, all on twin 45 Webers. Raced throughout Europe before being sold to Aristotle Onassis to be used as an academy car for aspiring F1 drivers, tutored and occasionally raced by Jo Siffert who won the F2 race at Monaco in 1965 in the car. Sold to the US where it raced in Formula C powered by a 1000cc Cosworth. Sold to Australia in 1990 as a restored rolling chassis. Raced continually in historics for 25 years by Jim McConville. Original Alfa engine block rebuilt in 2023, engine and gearbox yet to be refitted to the car which will need some recommsissioning and refurbishment having not raced for five years since Jim's passing. CAMS Certificate of Description and Logbook all in place. Many spares included ...
