Ford Mustang fastback 2+2 from 1964, participant in 2013 in the well-known and merciless “Peking-Paris Rally!!

This fantastic, incredible reliable, very desirable and usable example here is a Ford Mustang fastback from 1964 in exceptional condition throughout! 289 engine, V8 cylinder , 4736 cc that guarantees tremendous driving pleasure!

The car has been in the USA all its life until it was purchased and imported in 2011 to Germany. The decision was to built up the car for the Peking-Paris rally in 2013. A merciless challenge and adventure for man & machine! 13.500 km in 33 days! The robust technology, the large-volume machine and the availability for all spare parts were essentially  the decisive factors to purchase that car.

The car underwent an extensive restoration with no costs saved! The car has been completely dismantled, body shell has been stripped, floor panels replaced, body cavity sealed to protect again rust, doors and windows have been rebuilt with original parts, chrome panels restored, bonnet has been replaced through a GT 350 typically GFK bonnet with air inlet.

Gearbox and engine rebuilt, seals and wearing parts renewed, carburettor exchanged to make ‘Edelbrock’, rear axle and differential revised , leaf springs exchanged to new, brakes converted to disc brakes, twin electrical fuel pump, 4-speed gearbox (original 3-speed), dual circuit brake system, Koni shock absorbers front and rear,  tires 205/70 R15

Peking-Paris modifications:  Some modifications were carried out as they were strongly recommended by the organisation of “Peking-Paris”:

-          Installation of roll cage

-          Underrun protection

-          6tires on steel rims

-          Bigger tank of 120 litre

-          Fitting to electric pump with reserve pump

-          Recaro seats

-          Seat belts

-          Tripmaster

-          Better and stronger alternator

-          Contactless ignition system

-          Removal of rear seat bench

-          Relocation of battery into the trunk, this was usual for the Shelby’s  for a better weight balance

-          Installation of Circuit breaker switch, electrical

-          Additional instruments installed, such as oil pressure, water temperature, oil temperature, petrol instrument, volt meter, tachometer

During all conversions, great importance was to ensure that as many modifications as possible could be retrofitted if necessary and would not permanently alter the vehicle.

No costs and efforts saved on this car. It is really incredible. Finest works carried out into details and perfection!

This Ford is in excellent good technical condition and benefits from a recent major service and maintenance check.

Optical and cosmetical condition: the colour combination is also very tasteful and stylish, the body is beautifully painted in dark blue exterior with a lovely shine and only a very few signs of usage are present. Straight bodyshell. The car is in fantastic state and condition. The exterior colour changed from Prairie Bronze Metallic to Night mist Blue, GT 350 stripes

History:

Car stayed all its life in the USA, mainly in California when it was imported to Germany in 2011 by a classic car garage.

2011 until 2012 restored by German owner with engine and mechanics rebuilt in 2011 by Hammer Performance (D). Gearbox and differential have been rebuilt by Rennsportgetriebe Oberlack (D) and modified for long distance racing by CarDiff Motorsport, all in Germany.

During the years it was carefully maintained with a “no compromise philosophy”!

The car comes with comprehensive files, all invoices about carried out works and with plenty with bills and receipts. A real driver’s car! Simply amazing and a blast to drive!

It is road-legal registered in Germany on German numberplates!!

This fastback most certainly does not disappoint in any department and must been seen and driven to be fully appreciated!
