Description:
This March 86A was the American version of the F3000 car featuring a carbon and aluminium tub, Alcon brakes, Penske adjustable dampers, Hewland FG201 gearbox. Believed to be the Enterprise Racing car that won the championship in '88 with Jon Beekhuis and also driven by a string of now famous drivers.
Since retiring from racing it was owned by a well known driver. Following a long period in storage and on display as a show car restoration had begun with a very high quality professional re-paint in original red (has a few scratches from when in storage) but due to covid etc that stalled so has been loosely re-assembled to keep everything together.
It will of course need complete overhaul before any use but components appear in very good condition for the age, tub doesn't seem to show crash damage, bulkheads look original.
Gearbox is a Hewland FG201 condition an unknown, although it looks externally complete and untouched, selector seems to work but I don't think it has gears, input shaft doesn't feel like it's turning anything.
For some reason in the past the nose cone and wing has been changed to make it look newer - it's not a good fit or safely fixed for use so that would need remedying. The original aluminium crash box/wing mount is there. Set of original 15" split rims.
I would imagine it could be used in various applications depending on engine fitted, a very affordable entry to the HSCC Formula Libre at Silverstone Festival, hill climbing etc.
Sold strictly 'AS IS' for display or restoration, collection from Norfolk, U.K.
